Job description

Button Health is a family practice at Bay and College in downtown Toronto, built to be the place you stay ten years, not two. From professional allowances and paid training to a full team behind you and patients waiting for a doctor, you’ll have what you need to build a long, rewarding career in a clinic you’re proud to work in.

  • Location: 790 Bay St. #536, Toronto (Bay & College)
  • Schedule: Three, four or five clinical days a week
  • Arrangement: Independent contractor under a management services agreement
  • Start date: By mutual agreement

About Button Health

The clinic provides continuity care only, with no walk-in and no personal on-call. Patients book online, state their concern when booking, and receive information on how publicly funded care works before their first visit. The clinic manages staffing, systems, marketing and patient acquisition.

What you’ll be working on

  • Starting with 1,200 verified patients of your own, ready to attach on day one. You set your roster size.
  • Continuous, comprehensive primary care, including diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions
  • Physical examinations, routine health assessments and preventive care
  • Ordering, interpreting and following up on laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
  • Prescribing and administering medications and treatments in line with current best practice
  • ADHD and PrEP care where it falls within your scope and clinical judgment
  • Complete, accurate clinical records in the practice EMR

Education, licences and experience required

  • Family medicine certification: CCFP (Canada, any province), MRCGP with CCT (UK), ABFM (USA), MICGP (Ireland) or FRACGP (Australia)
  • CPSO Certificate of Registration for Independent Practice, or eligibility for one
  • Eligible for CMPA coverage

International physicians

UK, US, Irish and Australian family physicians who obtain CFPC certification without examination can be licensed by the CPSO without Canadian exams. Button Health handles the LMIA and work permit.

Not eligible: Physicians who still need to complete Canadian residency training or supervised practice, PA candidates, medical students.

Compensation

The clinic operates as a fee-for-service Family Health Group (FHG) and will apply for FHO+ next year.

  • Split: 80/20, with the first full OHIP billing cycle at 100/0.
  • Estimated earnings: $380,000 to $520,000 a year from OHIP and block fees, depending on days worked and roster size.
  • Annual profit share: Funded by clinic membership revenue, not physician billings. Target $84,000 annually, scaled to days worked. Can be used toward funding HOOPP pension contributions.
  • Professional allowance: up to $5,000 a year for CME, conferences, CPSO, CFPC and OMA dues, and licensing
  • Gym membership: paid by the clinic

Practice support

  • Two in-office MOAs, a clinical assistant, off-site call answering and an office manager
  • Online booking, patient self-check-in and a patient portal for results and follow-up
  • Patient acquisition and marketing managed and paid for by the clinic
  • Space, EMR, supplies and equipment provided
  • Third-party OHIP billing available

The space

A 1,700 sq ft medical office with seven exam rooms, a physicians’ office and a staff room. Lab, imaging, cardiology and sports medicine in the same building. Subway station one block away.
